I retorted that I am more worried about Google&#8217;s pervasiveness than Tata&#8217;s. Sadly, we now have a new scarier competitor to corporations &#8211; Governments. Governments across the world, and in many cases, elected democratically. The news that the U.S government is snooping on <a title=\"New York Times - U.S collecting phone records\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2013\/06\/06\/us\/us-secretly-collecting-logs-of-business-calls.html?src=rechp\">telephone records<\/a> and <a title=\"Washington Post - U.S mining data from internet companies\" href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/investigations\/us-intelligence-mining-data-from-nine-us-internet-companies-in-broad-secret-program\/2013\/06\/06\/3a0c0da8-cebf-11e2-8845-d970ccb04497_story.html\">internet traffic<\/a> isn&#8217;t really surprising &#8211; after all, that is the reason they have been opposing a free internet for a long time now. What is worse is in countries like ours, where there is a lot <a title=\"The Register - India spends on a new internet snooping HQ\" href=\"http:\/\/www.theregister.co.uk\/2012\/02\/29\/india_censorship_web\/\">more spying<\/a> going on, with far fewer controls. And if you have not noticed yet, the U.S government is trying to calm the uproar by saying that they only <a title=\"New York Times - U.S. Says It Gathers Online Data Abroad\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2013\/06\/07\/us\/nsa-verizon-calls.html?hpw\">collect data abroad<\/a>. Remember this when you use networks of any kind &#8211; telephone, social, mobile.
